Day 8 …… Clarity?
Yes…. chapter 8 has been read. A lot of the books I have read on self help and goal setting have been by people that I do not know. Not knowing in the sense of this situation being that I haven’t heard of them until I read their books. I decided to purchase The 50th Law (by 50 Cent and Robert Greene) and Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter (by 50 Cent). Think about it, if someone can decide to turn their life around, run aggressive mix-tape campaign in NY, get noticed/signed by Eminem, shoot to the top of the charts, and build a business empire it may be someone who has some good advice. I’m not saying all of his life choices have been good ones, but he does seem to achieved the goals that he wants. I read The 50th Law for about two hours today – after chapter 8 – an hour before and after work – and it is very good so far.The author says that if we sum up 50 Cent in one word it is “fearless”. He also said that 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) is addicted to reality and it is the strongest drug you can use. It makes sense. There are so many people who have their heads lost in their own fantasy that life just passes them by. This is one of those books that will be easy to read in the sense of not getting bored and wishing for it to end when you are one quarter the way through. Don’t worry, I will add it to my book section. I look forward to finishing this one.

Day 7 – Head above water…
Chapter 7 has been read. After doing my errands and chores today, I began working on a way to improve this whole journey. It occurred to me that I need to attack these goals with ferocity. The question is how? When it comes to the goal on deck, I am going to adjust this, but since I am still in goal one, and planning it all out, I will hold off for a bit on that until I can figure this out. I have read a lot of self-help and books of the such, but as far as goals comes I think I need something different. The great thing about the drawing board is that it is best for things like this…….

Day 6 – I can see the Vision!
OK…. I read chapter 6. What is just as important is that I created the vision board. I am not going to share it because it is private. If you do not like it, it is tough shit. I created it on a PowerPoint Slide, and saved it on a PDF so I can view it on my phone. This way, I can take it anywhere I need to. There is something very interesting about it. Looking at a vision board, can instantly motivate you. Once you get that feeling, it is enough to get you going to work towards what you want. This journey is 80% discipline, 20% motivation. Even though I wish it was the opposite, it is not. Today, I am going to read chapter 7 and continue working on my goals.

Day 5 – The view from underwater
I read Chapter 5 in the book last night, but did not do any of my non-negotiable daily tasks. So far while doing this, I haven’t been excited that I am working towards my goals. I have been treating each thing as an, “ugh, I have to do this again”. Looking at it from a different view point, I am excited that I get to work towards my goals, it is just that someone times you get caught in the monotony of it. The monotony makes you feel as if it is just something else you have to do when in reality you get to do it, not realizing, that you have to opportunity to. While looking back on this though process last night, I know what my next step is for Day 6. I really can’t believe I am about to do this, but I need to make a vision board. I never thought I would be making one of those. My goals are defined but they aren’t detailed. I need to create the vision that I need to work towards. It is important to have the goal in your head crystal clear so you know what you are doing. Years ago at work, I was told that someone observed that when I had a clear and precise end-goal in mind, there was nothing that can stop me from achieving it. It made me feel like a heat seeking missile. I will work to make this vision board a reality today (Saturday) and blog about it before I go to sleep tonight.

Day 4 – I’m slipping…..
The only thing I have done today towards my goals is read chapter 4. I can clearly see that without a clear-cut schedule, It does not get done. Yes, I have a timeline, but it is not detailed enough. Here is what I have decided to try next week as an experiment. I will be waking up at 5am, going to the gym, coming home to stretch, and then going for an hour walk. The question I need answered if i build a foundation such as this in the morning, will it make the day easier (in the sense of discipline) to meet my goals. Only time will tell….

Day 3 – Reality sets in
Cloud+ – chapter 3 has been read. I wasn’t able to go to the gym today and my diet did not exist. Cookies and chicken wings took precedence. I need to switch things up. My alarm went off at 5am. I picked up the phone, looked at it, and said “fuck that”. I fell back asleep and woke up three hours later. I will work to further adjust my schedule in order to do what is needed. I feel that if I am able to build a good foundation in the day, the rest will follow suit. A good foundation starting with a morning workout. I will continue the gym and Cloud+ throughout this week. There may be a switch up needed where I have to either do Krav Maga OR walk 10,000 steps a day. Tomorrow, I will hit the drawing board for this and let you know what happens.

Day 2 – Scheduling
So this one completely falls to me. Due to the fact that I didn’t handle my schedule correctly after work, I was unable to attend Krav Maga. I also left my fitbit at home so I do not know how many steps I got in. Other than that though, I finished chapter 2, but it took me three hours to read about sixty pages which means I am averaging 20 pages per hour. I guess that is good? I have nothing else to compare it to. By the time I finished reading it, I was exhausted. One thing I did learn today is that if my scheduling is fucked up, it will botch the whole day. Moving forward, and I really hate to say this (or write it), but in order to meet my goals, I may have to begin waking up at 5 am. If I get a good workout in before work, it may help me be more awake throughout the day. I could be wrong about this too. Tomorrow is the first day that I will work to get up early. I got to the gym and ate healthy today which is nice. I can enthusiastically tell you that I can bench press 95 whole pounds. I plan to do it again too. Alrighty, I need to get to be so I can wake up tomorrow and do it all again!

Day 1 – It’s in the books!
Day 1 is in the books! I started the book today but I have a confession. I have done a lot of studying before hand. Also, this is a certification renewal. I was also able to stretch, go to the gym, and walk my 10,000 steps. For the most part I ate healthy. Some family came into town, and we all know you try and eat as healthy as you can. The first chapter in the Cloud+ book was a general overview, and I am excited to get tomorrow’s chapter over with because it is the longest. Luckily I found a great software to read it on. The software is called Vital Source Bookshelf online. Among other things, it has a text to speech feature. This allows me, to have the book read to me while I follow along. I like it. It helps me keep my attention on what I am reading. I would highly recommend it.
